Provincial Government Update

The Provincial Health Officer order on province-wide restrictions has been extended until further notice.

By order of the PHO, all gatherings and events are suspended to significantly reduce COVID-19 transmission related to social interactions. The order came into effect November 19, 2020, at midnight and will be kept in place until further notice based on direction from the PHO. To view the full order update, click here.


Provincial Resources

B.C. Small and Medium-Sized Business Recovery Grant: $10,000 to $30,000 with an additional $5,000 to $10,000 available to eligible tourism-related businesses. The deadline is August 31, 2021 (or until funds are depleted). Hotline: 1-833-254-4357

B.C. Recovery Benefit: Individuals can apply for this recovery benefit worth up to $1,000. The benefit is based on 2019 income, so higher earners who lost jobs during the pandemic won’t qualify. Hotline: 1-833-822-0220

Operational Plan Template: This basic template will help you to get started developing an operational plan for your BC business/service.


Federal Resources 

Canada Emergency Business Account: Up to $60,000 loans where up to $20,000 can be forgiven. The deadline to apply is June 30, 2021. Eligible businesses that are currently operating through a personal bank account can now also apply. Hotline: 1-888-324-4201

Canadian Emergency Rent Subsidy: Subsidy of up to 65% of eligible expenses until March 31, 2021. Also includes an additional Lockdown Support of 25% until June 2021 if your business was significantly affected by a public health order. Hotline: 1-800-959-5525

Highly Affected Sectors Credit Availability Program: Aimed at sectors like tourism and hospitality, hotels, arts and entertainment, and will offer 100% government-guaranteed financing and provide low-interest loans up to $1 million for up to ten years.

Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy: Covers part of your employee wages up to 65%, retroactive to March 15 and up to December 19, 2020. Starting December 20, 2020, until June 5, 2021, the maximum subsidy will increase to 75%. Hotline: 1-800-959-5525

Canada Recovery Benefit: $400 per week for 13 two-week periods between September 27th, 2020, and September 25th, 2021 for self-employed workers and those in the gig economy. Applications are handled through the Canada Revenue Agency. Hotline: 1-833-966-2099
