About Us

The Burns Lake & District Chamber of Commerce was incorporated on January 10th, 1927.  We are in the 97th year of our incorporation, and we are honoured to represent the businesses in Burns Lake & the Lakes District as the Voice of Business.

A volunteer Board of Directors governs the Burns Lake & District Chamber of Commerce. 

We are located at 258 Hwy 16 in Burns Lake, BC.  Our regular hours of operation are 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Tuesday to Thursday, and we are closed on Statutory Holidays.

Board of Directors 2024-2025

The Burns Lake Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors currently consists of 10 members, President, Vice-President, Treasurer/Secretary, Past President and six directors. Members are nominated and elected at the Burns Lake Chamber Annual General Meeting, held every April. Each board member is elected for a 2-year term, executive positions are elected yearly for a 1-year term.

Julie moved to Burns Lake from Houston in 2006 and began working at LDM. In 2016, she also took on the bookkeeping for Napa/Polar Park. Julie enjoys helping with the various Chamber events and looks forward to collaborating on many more.

Mark Rogers | Past President

Dedicated to helping our local business economy flourish, Mark Rogers was President of the Burns Lake Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for four years.

Growing up on the Southside of Francois Lake, Mark has been a local of the area for many years. After spending nearly a decade working in blasting, Mark returned to a job working with tires in 1996, giving him over 25 years of experience in the automotive industry. He is currently the Burns Lake Kal Tire manager, dedicated to ensuring our committee has access to friendly and professional tire maintenance services.

When he isn’t working to ensure every customer receives exceptional service, Mark enjoys spending time with his family at their cabin on Babine Lake, taking in the natural beauty of our area.

Lakes District News

Laura Blackwell was born in Montreal, Quebec and moved to B.C. when she was 9. She attended school in the area and moved to Smithers for ten years. After receiving a promotion with Black Press, Laura returned to Burns Lake in 2001. She is the publisher of Lakes District News and the Houston Today and has been employed by Black Press for over 27 years. Laura enjoys working for the newspaper and volunteering for the community of Burns Lake. Laura has volunteered for the Burns Lake Chamber for over ten years. Laura sits on many committees, including the Village of Burns Lake tourism advisory committee, the United Way, the Bulkley Valley Credit Union community building committee, and the Vulnerability Analysis Advisory Committee for the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako for Area B & G.

Alice was born in Ontario but moved to Northern BC at a young age, spending most of her childhood in Houston.  In 2013, she moved to Burns Lake to take on the role of Branch Manager at RBC, and since 2017, she has been managing both the Burns Lake and Houston Branches, sharing her time in both communities.  Alice has been a board member of the Burns Lake Chamber of Commerce for several years and has enjoyed working with the board to find ways to help the business community and is looking forward to continuing to do so.
