    Job Description
    The Burns Lake Community Market Coordinator will be responsible for the operation of the community market.  While the primary responsibility will be that of market manager, this person will also assist with tourism related projects and inquiries at the visitor center. This position will support small, home based, and agricultural businesses in the Lakes District by ensuring the smooth operation of the community market.  Start date is June 19th. Position is for 30 hours a week.  
    • Report to Burns Lake & District Chamber of Commerce Manager
    • On site coordination of activities during all hours of the Market
    • Organization and communications during non-market hours
    • Oversee Market info booth; the ‘home base’ for market operations during each market
    • Coordinate the timely set up/take down of market
    • Providing management and support to on-site staff and volunteers
    • Attend monthly meetings and ongoing communications with market members via email/Facebook
    • In conjunction with Chamber manager, develop a marketing plan for the Market
    • Promote the market and increase its customer and vendor base
    • Ensure all Market Rules are enforced as well as all vendors of “high risk foods” (as defined by the Northern Health Authority) have a NHA permit on file
    • Ensure vendor files are complete and accurate
    • Conduct periodic surveys, both formal and informal, to assess customer and vendor opinions and satisfaction with the market; receive input from vendors and others
    • Write, edit and publish social media content on the Burns Lake Community Market Facebook page
    • Prepare a report for weekly meetings
    • Aid with Burns Lake tourism projects as well as visitor enquiries
    • Comply with professional dress code and grooming standards
    • Daily cleaning of Visitor Centre, Chamber of Commerce and surrounding parking/entrance area
    • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures as outlined for the Visitor Centre and Chamber of Commerce
    • Post-secondary education required
    • Experience working/volunteering with a Farmers Market preferred
    • Tourism Visitor Information Counsellor training and certificate preferred (will provide training if necessary)
    • FoodSafe Level One/MarketSafe certification an asset (will provide training if necessary)
    • Knowledge of Farmers Market operations, social media, tourism products/services  
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills – face to face, telephone and written
    • Able to demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness, and work independently
    • Strong computer skills
    • Available to work Saturdays and Sundays                                                            
    • Student must be returning to school full time in the fall
